Sunderland are the favourites to get promoted back to the Championship although it won’t be an easy season ahead.

The Black Cats have had a very positive transfer window, bringing in 11 players to help Jack Ross push the side back into the Championship.

Up front, the club has brought in Charlie Wyke and Jerome Sinclair to go with academy product, Josh Maja.

After losing Joel Asoro, it was essential that the club brought in a few more players to bolster their frontline.

However, with Charlie Wyke and Jerome Sinclair both out with injury, according to the Roker Report, Sunderland are interested in taking Manchester United youngster, James Wilson on loan for the season.

The loan window will remain open until the end of the month and therefore, no deal is imminent just yet.

The Breakdown

When all Jack Ross’ signings are fit, Sunderland only have three strikers to choose from.

While the club managed to scrape a win against Charlton Athletic at the Stadium of Light, they can’t rely on the trio to perform for the whole season in what is a very tough league.

Although he impressed for Man U when he made 10 appearances in the league during the 2014/15 season, the youngster has found it hard to break into the first-team since.

His goalscoring record might not be outstanding but in reality, Sunderland needs the numbers up top.

Moreover, in a new league with a new manager, Wilson might just flourish and deliver on the potential he’s promised.
